ReadKick Terms of Use (End User License Agreement)
Last updated: 27 October 2026
These Terms of Use (the "Terms") are an agreement between you and Aleksei Prokhorov, a private individual based in Spain, who operates ReadKick ("we", "us"). They apply to the ReadKick mobile app for iOS and Android, the ReadKick website and the ReadKick server (together, the "Service"). These Terms also serve as the End User License Agreement (EULA) for the app.
By downloading, installing or using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. Our Privacy Policy, available at https://readkick.app/privacy, explains how we process personal data.
1. The Service
ReadKick helps you learn English and Spanish by reading. It includes a catalog of books, stories and dialogues, a reader that lets you tap words and see translations, a personal dictionary, word training, recorded narration and read-aloud with your device's voice, AI explanations and translations, import of your own books, articles and texts, and sync of your learning data between devices.
2. Who can use the Service
You must be at least 16 years old to use the Service. By using it you confirm that you meet this requirement and that you can enter into a binding agreement. You may use the Service only for your own personal, non-commercial learning.
3. Your account
- When you first open the app, an anonymous guest account is created so that your progress is saved. You can later sign in with email, Sign in with Apple or Google Sign-In; your guest data then moves to that account.
- You are responsible for keeping your sign-in details and your devices secure and for the activity under your account. Tell us at support@readkick.app if you think someone has used your account without permission.
- Please give accurate information. One person may not create accounts to get around the limits of the free plan.
- You can delete your account at any time in the app (Settings → Account) or at https://readkick.app/account/delete. Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription (see section 5).
4. Free plan and Premium
Free plan. The free plan currently includes, each calendar month: 3 catalog books (a book you have opened stays available to you), 10 AI word explanations, 10 AI sentence translations, and 1 imported book, 1 article and 1 text of your own. Other features may also be limited.
ReadKick Premium removes the monthly limits on catalog books and on your own books, articles and texts and gives you more AI requests. AI requests in Premium are subject to a fair-use limit of 500 requests per day to protect the Service against automated abuse.
We may change the content and limits of the free plan and add, change or remove features of the Service. If we make a change that materially reduces what you have already paid for during your current Premium period, we will tell you in advance, and you may cancel; where the law requires it, we will refund the unused part of the period that you have paid for. This does not limit your statutory rights.
5. Subscriptions, payment and automatic renewal
- Plans. ReadKick Premium is offered as an auto-renewable subscription: yearly, with a 7-day free trial for eligible users, and monthly. At the time of writing the prices are US$49.99 per year and US$12.99 per month. Prices may differ by country and currency and may include taxes. The price that applies to you is always shown in the App Store or Google Play before you confirm the purchase.
- Payment. Subscriptions are sold through and charged by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play). Payment is charged to your Apple ID or Google account when you confirm the purchase or, if you start with a free trial, when the trial ends. We never receive your payment card details.
- Automatic renewal. Your subscription renews automatically for the same period and at the then-current price unless you cancel it at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account will be charged for the renewal within the 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- Free trial. If you start the yearly plan with a free trial, the trial automatically converts into a paid yearly subscription unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends. You can cancel during the trial without being charged. Free trials are available once per user and store account, as determined by the store. Any unused part of a free trial is forfeited when you buy a subscription.
- Managing and cancelling. You can manage and cancel your subscription at any time in your store account settings: on iPhone or iPad in Settings → your name → Subscriptions; on Android in the Google Play Store → Profile → Payments and subscriptions → Subscriptions. The app also has a "Manage subscription" link. When you cancel, Premium remains active until the end of the period already paid for, and no further renewals are charged. Deleting the app or your ReadKick account does not cancel your subscription.
- Price changes. If the price of your subscription changes, the store will inform you in advance and, where required, ask for your consent, according to its rules.
- Restoring purchases. If you reinstall the app or use a new device with the same store account, use "Restore purchases" in the app.
- Refunds. Purchases are processed by Apple or Google, so refunds are handled by them under their refund policies. You can request a refund from Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com and from Google through Google Play. We cannot issue refunds for store purchases directly.
Right of withdrawal in the EU, EEA and UK. If you are a consumer in the European Union, the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you generally have the right to withdraw from a contract for digital content or digital services within 14 days without giving a reason. Because Premium is provided immediately, when you start a paid subscription (including when a free trial converts into a paid subscription) you expressly request that we start providing Premium immediately, within the withdrawal period. For digital content that is supplied immediately, you acknowledge that you lose your right of withdrawal once the supply has begun. For the service part of Premium, if you withdraw, you may have to pay an amount proportionate to what was provided until you told us that you withdraw, as permitted by law. You can exercise any right of withdrawal through the store (Apple or Google) or by sending us a clear statement at support@readkick.app. During a free trial you can always cancel at no cost. Nothing in this section limits your statutory rights.
6. AI features
ReadKick uses artificial intelligence (large language models provided by third parties) to generate explanations of words, translations of sentences and translations of selected passages. AI answers are generated automatically and are labelled as AI answers in the app.
- AI answers may be inaccurate, incomplete or out of context. Check important information with other sources.
- AI answers are learning aids only. They are not professional advice of any kind (including legal, medical, financial or professional translation services), and you should not rely on them for decisions with legal, medical, financial or safety consequences.
- To generate an answer, the word, the sentence and nearby text or the passage you selected are sent to our AI providers, as described in the Privacy Policy. Do not send passages that contain personal data of others or confidential information.
- You may report a wrong answer in the app. We may limit, change or temporarily switch off AI features, for example to prevent abuse or because of provider outages.
7. Your own content
You can import books, articles and texts into the app ("Your Content"). Your Content is stored on your device and is not uploaded to our server. Words, example sentences, notes and highlighted passages you save, and passages you send to AI features, are processed by the Service as described in the Privacy Policy.
- You keep all rights in Your Content. We do not claim ownership.
- You confirm that you have the rights needed to import and use Your Content in the app for your personal use, and that doing so does not infringe the rights of others or break the law.
- You grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to process Your Content only as needed to provide the Service to you (for example, to sync your notes and dictionary and to send passages you choose to our AI providers). This licence ends when the content is deleted from the Service.
- The Service does not publish or share Your Content with other users.
8. Catalog content and intellectual property
The books and stories in the catalog are public-domain works (prepared from sources such as Standard Ebooks, Project Gutenberg and Wikisource) or original ReadKick content. The app, its design, software, original stories, dialogues, narration, translations, dictionary data, illustrations and trademarks belong to us or to our licensors and are protected by intellectual property laws.
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the app and the catalog content for your own non-commercial learning, in accordance with these Terms and the rules of the store from which you downloaded the app. You may not copy, extract, scrape, redistribute, sell or make publicly available the catalog, the narration, the dictionary data or AI answers, except as allowed by law or by the licence of a public-domain text itself.
Copyright complaints. If you believe that content in the Service infringes your copyright or other rights, send a notice to support@readkick.app with: (a) your name and contact details; (b) identification of the work you claim is infringed; (c) where the content is in the app (for example the book title and chapter); (d) a statement that you believe in good faith that the use is not authorised by the rights holder or the law; (e) a statement that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the rights holder or authorised to act for them; and (f) your physical or electronic signature. We will review the notice promptly and remove or disable access to content where appropriate.
9. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use the Service in breach of the law or the rights of others;
- import or send through AI features content that is illegal, or that you do not have the right to use;
- access the Service with bots, scripts or other automated means, overload it, or send requests to our server other than through the app;
- get around usage limits, paywalls, security measures or technical protections, or share or resell access to Premium;
- copy, reverse engineer, decompile or modify the app, except where the law expressly permits it;
- use the Service or AI answers to build or train a competing product or dataset.
10. Suspension and termination
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or close your account, or limit access to features, if you seriously or repeatedly breach these Terms, if required by law, or to protect the Service or other users. Where reasonable, we will warn you first and give you the chance to fix the problem. If we close your account without your fault, we will refund the unused part of a prepaid subscription period where the law requires it. Sections that by their nature should continue (such as 8, 11, 12 and 13) survive termination.
11. Availability and disclaimers
We work to keep the Service available and useful, but we provide it as it is and as available. We do not guarantee that it will always be uninterrupted or error-free, that every book, translation, dictionary entry, audio file or AI answer will be accurate, or that the Service will meet a particular learning goal. Some features need an internet connection. We may carry out maintenance and updates that temporarily affect the Service.
If you are a consumer, you have statutory rights if the Service, including Premium, does not conform to the contract, under Directive (EU) 2019/770 and the Spanish consumer protection law (Real Decreto Legislativo 1/2007, TRLGDCU) or the law of your country. Nothing in these Terms limits those rights.
12. Limitation of liability
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability where it cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law, in particular under EU and Spanish consumer protection law. This includes liability for intent and gross negligence, for death or personal injury, for fraud, and your statutory rights regarding non-conforming digital content and services.
Subject to the previous paragraph, and to the extent permitted by law: we are liable for slight negligence only if we breach an essential contractual obligation, and then only for the foreseeable damage typical for this type of contract; and we are not liable for loss caused by your breach of these Terms, by your devices or internet connection, or by events beyond our reasonable control. If you use the Service for purposes other than personal use, our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us for the Service in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim.
13. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of Spain. If you are a consumer, this choice of law does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory provisions of the law of the country where you have your habitual residence, and you may bring proceedings in the courts of the place where you live. We encourage you to contact us first at support@readkick.app so we can try to resolve any issue.
14. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms, for example when we change the Service or when the law changes. We will publish the new version with a new date and, for material changes, inform you in the app at least 30 days before they take effect, unless a change is required sooner by law or to address security risks. If you do not agree to the changes, you may stop using the Service, delete your account and cancel your subscription before they take effect.
15. App Store terms
If you downloaded the app from Apple's App Store, the following also applies:
- These Terms are concluded between you and us only, and not with Apple Inc. ("Apple"). We, not Apple, are solely responsible for the app and its content.
- Your licence to use the app is limited to a non-transferable licence to use it on any Apple-branded products that you own or control, as permitted by the Usage Rules in the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions, except that the app may be accessed by other accounts associated with you via Family Sharing or volume purchasing.
- We are solely responsible for providing maintenance and support for the app. Apple has no obligation whatsoever to furnish any maintenance and support services for the app.
- We are solely responsible for any product warranties, whether express or implied by law, to the extent not effectively disclaimed. If the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price for the app (if any) to you; to the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple will have no other warranty obligation with respect to the app, and any other claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs or expenses attributable to a failure to conform to a warranty are our responsibility.
- We, not Apple, are responsible for addressing any claims by you or a third party relating to the app or your possession or use of it, including product liability claims, claims that the app fails to conform to any legal or regulatory requirement, and claims arising under consumer protection, privacy or similar legislation.
- In the event of any third-party claim that the app or your possession and use of it infringes that third party's intellectual property rights, we, not Apple, are solely responsible for the investigation, defence, settlement and discharge of that claim.
- You represent and warrant that you are not located in a country that is subject to a U.S. Government embargo or that has been designated by the U.S. Government as a "terrorist supporting" country, and that you are not listed on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- You must comply with applicable third-party terms of agreement when using the app, for example your mobile data provider's terms.
- Apple and Apple's subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms, and upon your acceptance of these Terms, Apple will have the right (and will be deemed to have accepted the right) to enforce these Terms against you as a third-party beneficiary.
- Questions, complaints or claims about the app should be sent to us: Aleksei Prokhorov, Spain, support@readkick.app.
16. Google Play
If you downloaded the app from Google Play, your purchases are also subject to the Google Play Terms of Service and Google Play's refund policies. Google is not a party to these Terms and is not responsible for the app.
17. General
- If any provision of these Terms is found invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions stay in effect.
- If we do not enforce a right immediately, we do not waive it.
- We may transfer our rights and obligations under these Terms to a successor who continues the Service, provided this does not reduce your rights; we will inform you in advance. You may not transfer your account or rights to someone else.
- These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and us about the Service. If we provide translations of these Terms, the English version prevails in case of conflict, except where the law requires otherwise.
